Objectives
A course of study based on the LCM syllabus is intended to provide:

a balanced combination of performing skills and the supporting literacy;

opportunities for learning and assessment that are both creatively challenging and technologically relevant;

opportunities for mastery learning that are structured and directly related to the repertoire published for each grade;

the basis for study and practice that will be relevant to career skills and concepts.
Target Groups
Broadly speaking, Early Learning (in both Drama and Spoken English) is for children aged 3 or above. Steps 1-3 and Grades 1-3 represent progress through the foundations of the chosen subject, Grades 4-5 represent a transitional maturing phase, and Grades 6-8 represent advanced levels of performance, developed in the context of theoretical, historical and literacy understanding.
Progression from Drama and Communication Grades:
* Performance route: DipLCM, ALCM, LLCM, FLCM
* Teaching route: DipLCM in Teaching, ALCM in Teaching, LLCM in Teaching
The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a reference framework that links the qualifications of different countries together. It acts as a translation device to make qualifications easier to understand across different countries and systems in Europe.

Accreditation
London College of Music Examinations are awarded by University of West London Qualifications, which is recognised by Ofqual (the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator) to offer regulated qualifications. Most of LCM’s graded examinations in Drama and Communication have been placed at Levels 1, 2 and 3.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) includes regulated graded examinations in its tariff. Holders of most LCM Grade 6-8 qualifications in Drama and Communication applying for any course of study at a UK Higher Education Institution are entitled to tariff points as detailed below.
